Who we are...

The Alliance Public Schools Foundation is a non-profit organization
formed in 1987 by Alliance citizens and governed by a volunteer
Board of Directors. Board members are community-minded individuals
with a commitment to Alliance Public Schools. They have an active
interest in the educational advancement of students and school
employees as citizens of our community. The Foundation operates
entirely independent of the Alliance Board of Education.

What we do...

We fulfill a vital role in the achievement of educational goals of
local students by providing scholarship opportunities in recognition
of academic excellence. By providing otherwise unattainable
resources, we are opening doors.

The mission of the Alliance Public Schools Foundation is to promote excellence in education by developing a partnership between our schools
and community which will increase and enhance educational
opportunities for all students.

LOOK HOW FAR WE'VE COME!!!

From humble beginnings---
The Alliance Public Schools Foundation was incorporated in April 1987 with seven board of directors. In 1988, the Foundation made a donation of $70 to the Alliance High School band for their trip to Washington, D.C. In 1992, the first large mailing of 700 letters was mailed to our AHS alumni, with information about the Foundation. The first scholarship was established for the Class of 1945 in September 1995, in the amount of $500.

During the past two decades, the Foundation has grown to 13 board members---we participated in underwriting the Chautauqua in 2006; helped support the "Read for A Ride" program at the Alliance Library; held fundraising events to help with the AHS band trips to Washington, D.C.; mailed out three newsletters to over 9,000 alumni all over the world; donated $3,600 for new computer software for the grade schools; launched a new website for the Foundation; and, this past year, awarded $12,000 in scholarships to Alliance High School graduates.

Now we are looking to the future---
The APS Foundation board of directors set a goal of $22,000 in scholarships for 2009 to celebrate our 22nd year anniversary.
